This year, the Chance Gala was held at Wellandia, a private residence in the hills of Anaheim, on Saturday, September 18th. We honored long-time supporters Barbara and Gary Gray, as well as Chapman University professor, Baron Kelly, for their contributions to the arts in our first annual Chance Visionary Awards ceremony.
Guest's spirits were high on Saturday’s balmy fall evening where they enjoyed an open bar with special cocktails created by Sustaining Member Tammy Cormican of Last Call Bartending. VIP sponsors and dinner guests enjoyed a lovely meal served by Chance artists, as well as delectable desserts provided by Le Grande Marketing, all while watching an incredible sunset overlooking Anaheim Hills. Cocktail and Showcase guests arrived in grand style to join in on the fun and enjoy delectable appetizers, cocktails, and silent auction.
Our grand prize Trip-or-Gadget raffle winner was Carolyn Leal and for the first time ever, our winner had the choice between a VIP trip to NYC or a Gadget Upgrade package. In true theatre-lover fashion, our winner chose the trip to NYC! Congratulations, Carolyn!
Following the raffle was a spirited live auction, led by Chance Artist Keri Safran. We exceeded our expectations on both our silent and live auction goals and would like to thank all of our bidders for their support, as well as our in-kind sponors for their fabulous items. We couldn't have done it without you!
After Keri left the stage, Emcee and Company Member Jennifer Ruckman took control of the mic and introduced a powerhouse assortment of Chance Artists, who performed a fabulous show alongside a live 5-piece band led by Chance Associate Member Mike Wilkins. It was a spirited and lively showcase which ended with the entire audience singing and dancing along to "Let the Sunshine In" from last year's smash hit Hair. After the showcase and some hip tunes on the dance floor, our VIP sponsors were shuttled to the exclusive after-party at Board Chairman John Karczynski's home, which had been converted into a gypsy den. Everyone was a star as they were entertained into the wee hours of the night by a live piano sing-along, hosted by Company Members Emily Clark and Clarissa Barton, with musical accompaniment by Company Member Bill Strongin. And, of course, what party would be complete without a chocolate fountain, desserts by Le Grande Marketing, and cocktails provided by Tammy Cormican?
It was a night to remember and the Chance would like to thank their Special Events Committee, its Board of Directors, staff, company, artists, and volunteers for creating this evening of theatrical fun and successful fundraising. Stay tuned for information on events during the 2011 season!
