A delightful musical adaptation of the classic novel about Anne Shirley, a red-haired, wide eyed orphan girl who is thrust upon the town of Avonlea. Her genius for getting into trouble changes her life and the lives of all those around her. A heartwarming story for everyone in the family.

Back for its 8th year!
The Eight: Reindeer Monologues
by Jeff Goode

"The funniest (and filthiest) Christmas show in town. this is the naughtiest fun you’ll have all holiday season."Stage Scene LA

Our favorite team of reindeer still have plenty to say! Accusations, rumors and all-out attacks are flying fast and furious around Santa’s toyshop this holiday season. Go behind the tinsel and hear the truth about Santa straight from the eight reindeer who know him best. When a doe says “No”, she means “No Way, Sucka!”

This production contains foul-mouthed reindeer and is definitely not suitable for kids!

WEST COAST PREMIERE
Nerve
by Adam Szymkowicz

"DARKLY FUNNY in a twisted sort of way and DARKLY DISTURBING precisely because of its accurate take on human nature” Orange County Register

It’s not me, it’s YOU! Submerse yourself in the modern dating scene with this dark comedy about falling into a relationship on the first date. Elliot has never had an online date before... at least not one that showed up. Susan has had far too many but would prefer not to discuss them. When they meet in a bar one night, all their personality flaws are revealed, along with a puppet, some modern dance and a desperation that may or may not be love.

This production contains adult language and subject matter.

WORLD PREMIERE
The Boy in the Bathroom
Book & Lyrics by Michael Lluberes
Music & Additional Lyrics by Joe Maloney
Directed by Artistic Director Oanh Nguyen
Music Direction by Mike Wilkins

* Back Stage Critic's Pick

“INGENIOUS NEW MUSICAL! Tangible proof that Chance Theater stands head and shoulders above its peers in finding and staging new musicals that move us and provoke thought even as they entertain.” Orange County Register

This award-winning musical is about David, who has lived in his bathroom for a year. He eats the flat food his mother slips under the door, writes his college thesis on rolls of toilet paper, and decorates the room with origami birds. But, when Julie comes into his safe existence, a relationship begins (through the bathroom door) that makes David question whether there is finally a reason to stop hiding and step outside. The Boy in the Bathroom is filled with rich melodies and new songs that remind us all of the magic that can exist when we lower our guard and take a chance on life.

WEST COAST PREMIERE
The Superheroine Monologues
by John Kuntz and Rick Park
Directed by Artistic Director Oanh Nguyen

“A LATE-NIGHT TREAT! A contemporized parody of The Vagina Monologues, this funny and affectionate look at some of the most iconic female comic characters presents itself on a bare stage and dishes the dirt on life in the super–fast lane.” Back Stage

What do you get when you put Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Storm and some of the world's other most beloved spandex-clad females on the same stage? An ass-whooping (and hilarious) evening of theatre! Touching, funny and always campy, The Superheroine Monologues is an action-packed parody that explores the evolution of the modern superwoman throughout the decades. You probably already know that they can stop speeding bullets, control the weather and scratch your eyes out, but these dynamic divas promise to answer all the questions you never dreamed to ask.

From its phenomenal success in London and New York, Jerry Springer: The Opera is finally coming to Southern California. The smash-hit production combines the highest form of art and the lowest form of pop culture, and created history in the process by winning all four Best Musical Awards in London. Featuring nappy fetishists, wannabe strippers and dancing Klansmen, this profane, cheeky musical has a sung-through score that ranges from pop and classical to contemporary opera. Just remember, it ain’t over till the fat lady says you’re sleeping with your brother’s sister’s twin...

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA PREMIERE
Up
by Bridget Carpenter
Directed by Trevor Biship

* Back Stage Critic's Pick

"Carpenter's script keeps you guessing throughout. Up's second act will jolt you with several I-didn't-see-that-coming revelations."
-- StageSceneLA

After critically-acclaimed productions at Steppenwolf Theater and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Bridget Carpenter’s Up finally makes it to Southern California. Prepare to meet Walter Griffin. Father. Dreamer. Lawn chair pilot... who once touched the clouds. Ever since that day, Walter has been attempting to recapture that authentic feeling of complete freedom, and remained blind to the dreams of his wife and son who wish that their family could find a way to keep their feet on the ground. Up is a quirky, bittersweet tale about an American family trying to escape the boundaries of the everyday by harnessing the power of the imagination.
